If you’re looking for information about plastic bags we’re one of your sources for these and other compelling facts It’s the kind of information that inspired our few in the beginning -and now millions of others- to take action on this urgent issues.
Our ever-dreaming goal and target is have influence, to educate, to inform, to act, to impact, and finally to change our daily lives in using non-responsible plastics (that means, should we stop and think the plastics that we are using everyday, are they good to the environment?) Many, countless lives and inconvenience are causing great damage to our nature because of the convenience of the plastics that brings to us, now, should we be thankful and start to act / prevent further harm before it is too late?
Many are listening, and some are acting, and we would like to share some of the facts below so we can influence you a bit.
1. Regular plastic bags take decades to degrade, so, they are just piling up and up. However, it is not a good idea to ban plastic bags (http://www.biodeg.org/position-papers/Plastic-bag-bans/?domain=biodeg.org)
2. The answer is to make all short-life plastics with Symphony’s d2w Controlled-life technology. They will be just as strong as ordinary plastics, and they cost very little more, but they will automatically self – destruct if they have not been recycled during their useful life.
3. d2w plastics do not just fragment, because d2w technology reduces the molecular weight to the point where the material is no longer a plastic, and can be bioassimilated by naturally-occurring micro-organisms.
4. Ordinary plastics and d2w plastics are made from by-products of oil, natural gas or coal. The by-products will arise so long as the world needs these fuels, and it makes good environmental sense to use it, instead of using land and water resources to produce paper, cotton, or vegetable-based plastics.
5. d2w plastics can be recycled if collected during their useful life (see http://www.biodeg.org/position-papers/recycling/?domain=biodeg.org)
6. Many countries throughout the world (see http://www.biodeg.org/legislation/) have imposed an “eco-tax” on regular plastic bags. Biodegradable plastics get exemption or a lower rate.
7. Plastic bags made with d2w technology are a much better option than vegetable-based plastic (see http://www.biodeg.org/position-papers/comparison/?domain=biodeg.org)
8. It is estimated that ordinary plastic kills 1 million sea birds, 100,000 sea mammals and countless fish each year.
9. Turtles, dolphins and killer whales can choke or starve by confusing plastic bags for jellyfish. See the devastating effects plastic bags have on the environment.
10. Plastic bags made with d2w would not survive long enough to reach the ocean garbage patches.
How Long Does It Take For Other Products To Biodegrade?
Here’s how long it takes for some commonly used products to biodegrade, after they are disposed of:

Why we care? See the Impact On the Wildlife
The real impact of plastic bag litter affects wildlife both in the marine environment and in rural areas. Tens of thousands of whales, birds, seals and turtles are killed every year from plastic bag litter in the marine environment as they often mistake plastic bags for food such as jellyfish. Plastic bags, once ingested, cannot be digested or passed by an animal so it stays in their stomachs. Plastic in an animal’s digestive tract can prevent food digestion and can lead to a very slow and painful death. In the case of biodegradable plastic bags, the bags would disolve in water after a short time, while those bags that would be swallowed by marine animals, the animals’ digestive fluids would dissolve the biodegradable plant additive, therefore breaking the bag up into little pieces, which the animal could later pass naturally. As plastic bags can take up to 1000 years to break down, once an animal dies and decays after ingesting plastic, the plastic is then freed back into the marine environment to carry on killing other wildlife! Turtles have also been rescued with plastic bags lodged in their throat – and part of the bag hanging out of their mouth. The turtle pictured above was found and rescued by a senior staff member of Melbourne (Australia) Zoo while they were out doing fieldwork.
FOR A GREENER SOLUTION: Changing Habit by Converting Normal Plastic Products to Oxo-Biodegradable Plastics
I have to admit, before entering this eco-green industry, I had no sense at all for any green awareness. Now I have successfully became a promoter of green products and is also a proud user of them. I do encounter many difficulties when promoting this idea or information to many plastic manufacturers. Mostly they will consider the “added-on costs” before the responsible green results that could bring by converting normal plastics to oxo-biodegradable plastics. Of course I can understand they do have their own consideration when green action could also become a burden on their costs of the products. That’s why, we are aggressively are educating customers that although we cannot reduce possible costs, however by using d2w oxo-biodegradable plastic products is the #1 solution that’s most cost-effective and efficient that are available on the market right now. Just with little add-on costs to your normal plastics, the d2w technology can shorten the degradation time from up to 400 years to as little as 6 months – 5 years, safely and gracefully, under any oxidized environment (this means, as long as it is under any condition that has oxygen) .
Act “Green” requires not only you and me, it also flows back up to the suppliers, the manufacturers of the plastic industry. It will be really making good result to our environment when everybody, each one of us, can act and contribute together.
So, for numerous plastic suppliers out there in the markets, we really need to work together to promote d2w oxo-biodegradable plastic products, for everyday use. And as for final users like you and me, we are all stakeholder taking part of this, we are all linked and are responsible for promoting & using eco-friendly products.
And a quick overview of our company which I admire so much:
J-Trend Systems Co., Ltd. represents d2w oxo-biodegradable plastic technology in Asia (China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, Korea) and is the only company offering oxo-biodegradable plastics end product and semi-finished product in this huge and emerging market; integrating the total green supply chain with product quality and cost competitiveness. The company offers a wide range of oxo-biodegradable plastic products, covering from rigid packaging to most of the flexible packaging available in the market and our company is based in Taoyuan county, Taiwan with factories and offices in China and Hong Kong.
And d2w is an additives that are added to the plastics at their extrusion stage and this d2w additive is developed by the Symphony Environmental based in UK. And we are the only authorized distributor in Asia for the d2w technology for plastic products. Without doubt we are able to provide the all ranges of oxi-bio packaging products
